Day trips from Ibiza: Formentera and Isla Conejera
Two classic excursions — the flooded salt pans of Formentera and the tiny natural park of Es Conills — and how to do them well.
Ibiza's two classic day-trips take you off the island entirely: flat, bicycle-friendly Formentera, and the tiny protected islet of Isla Conejera (Es Conills).
## Formentera by ferry
Half an hour from Ibiza Town, Formentera is the land of bikes, sandbars and the enormous shallow lagoon of Ses Illetes. Rent a bike at the port, pedal the coast and swim in water so clear it looks staged. Go early to dodge the afternoon rush.
## Isla Conejera
A small pine-artored rocks-and-turquoise water natural park off the west coast, reachable only by boat — and landing is managed to protect its wildlife. Most trips are half-day snorkel excursions that circle the islet and stop off the coast. Book through a licensed operator and choose a small-group morning trip when conditions are calm.
## Booking tips
- Ferries: buy afternoon return leg ahead in summer
- Conejera boats run from Sant Antonio and Cala Salada in season only
- Both trips depend on the wind — have a plan B for rough days
