A cycling guide to Ibiza: routes and rentals

Flat salt-flat circuits for beginners and rugged cross-island epics for the fit — Ibiza is better on two wheels than most visitors think.

Ibiza's old farm roads and quiet lanes made it a cycling island long before the tourers arrived. Here is how to ride it well. ## Where to ride - **The salt flats (beginner):** completely flat circuits around Ses Salines, with flamingos and sea views. Ideal for e-bikes. - **The Santa Gertrudis lanes:** rolling farmland loops in the island's green heart, easy and almost traffic-free. - **The Amunts plateau (intermediate):** the wild north-west desert routes, gravel under tyres and no cars for kilometres. - **Sa Talaia climb (advanced):** the island's biggest sustained climb, rewarding with a full-island panorama. ## Rentals and guides Most hire shops are in Eivissa, Sant Antoni and Santa Eulària. Ask for a helmet, lights and a repair kit; book e-bikes ahead in summer. Guided off-road tours are the easiest way to discover the interior without a map. ## Riding sensibly Ibiza roads are narrow and the midday heat is real. Ride early, carry water, and treat the unpaved tracks with respect — they are shared with walkers and working farms.
