Ibiza's calmest beaches for families
Shallow water, easy parking and lifeguards: the coves that work best with young children.
Ibiza's west and south coasts are the calmest for families. Look for bays that face east or are sheltered by headlands, where the water stays shallow and the waves stay small.
## Cala Gració and Cala Gracioneta
A pair of sheltered sandy coves just north of Sant Antoni, with gently shelving water and plenty of shade. They are close to town, so facilities and parking are easy.
## Cala d'en Port, Portinatx
In the far north, Portinatx has three coves; Cala d'en Port is the shallowest and best protected. There are cafés and lifeguards in season, and the coast path is an easy walk for older children.
## Cala Llonga
A wide, sandy bay on the east coast with a calm sea, a playground and restaurants along the front. It faces the mainland, which keeps the swell down.
## Platja d'en Bossa
Long, flat and busy, but unbeatable for convenience: shallow water, watersports, cafés and a 10-minute drive from Ibiza Town.
## Before you go
- Choose beaches with lifeguards in peak season
- Pack water shoes for pebbly coves
- Go early: family-friendly bays fill up by mid-morning in July and August
- Watch for the midday sun — rent a parasol or bring a beach tent
